LIBERTY, by WENZEL is a 5 axes Coordinate Measuring Machine that provides a fusion of new technologies, offering users the unparalleled combination of enhanced metrology and dramatically improved productivity while simplifying programming.
LIBERTY CMM from Wenzel is the combination of the “best in class frame” manufactured from dark Granite and all hand finished in our factory in Germany. Wenzel CMM’s have been proven over many years of benchmarked service and now deliver a new level of Metrology innovation combined with the new probe technology from Renishaw in the PH20.
The new ‘LIBERTY Technology Package’ can be added to any new CMM in the WENZEL range with the UCC2 Motion Controller and the Renishaw MCU1 handbox integrated into a single package with the PH20 infinite index probe head and the flexible Metrosoft QUARTIS measurement software.
The LIBERTY Package with the new Renishaw PH20 offers to the customer therevolutionary new CMM function of ‘Head Touches’ whereby measurement points are taken by moving theprobe head. Using only the rapid rotary motion of the head, points can be taken faster and with improved accuracy and repeatability.
LIBERTY also introduces a unique ‘inferred calibration’ technique which determines the probe head orientation and probe position in a single operation for the complete head allowing subsequent measurements at any head angle without recalibration.
If required, enhanced positional metrology is available by calibrating the probe tip at the feature orientation to be measured.
With LIBERTY you immediately have access to the range of proven TP20 probe modules, providing a wide selection of trigger forces, directional sensing options and extensions to meet application requirements. The detachable modules provide crash protection and can be automatically changed using the MCR20 change rack.
CYCLE Times Improvements
One of the main advantages compared to other Touch Trigger solutions is the reduction in cycle time. With the PH20’s unique head touches and 5 axis motion you eliminate time spent indexing the probe head and with these speed increases, this results in a 3 fold improvement in throughput over conventional systems.

Metrosoft QUARTIS is based on the decade of knowledge of one of the most successful measuring software providers worldwide.The result is a measuring software with an uncluttered, flexible and result orientated workspace that reduces distraction for users so they can spend more time and energy focused on their work. With Metrosoft QUARTS measurement results can now be generated even faster and easier and now enables users to implement the new Renishaw PH20. Programming is quick and simple with dynamic measurement reports from a range of included templates.

Incorporating Renishaw’s Renscan5® technology, REVO® has proven to improve inspection throughput levels by up to 900% on CMMs previously fitted with three-axis scanning systems, whilst also saving hours of calibration times compared to conventional indexing head systems.
The key to the success of the REVO™ five-axis head is its ability to overcome the limitations of three-axis scanning methods, where any attempt to rapidly move the large mass of a CMM results in inertial errors caused by accelerations and decelerations.
Therefore, the only possible way to maintain acceptable accuracy in three-axis scanning has been at the expense of measuring speed. However, REVO™ uses synchronised head and machine motion when scanning, rapidly following changes in part geometry without introducing its own dynamic errors.
The CMM is able to move at a constant velocity whilst measurements are being taken, without impacting accuracy.
