Wenzel exaCT® Computer Tomography

The Wenzel exaCT® is the new CT technology from the Wenzel Group.

CT allows all internal dimensions and surfaces to be analysed as well as Non Destructive Testing (NDT) to be performed.
With the exaCT®, Wenzel sets a new standard in price-performance-ratio and makes the CT system affordable also for small and medium-sized companies.

The integration of ultra-precise mechanical engineering from Wenzel, the high image quality detectors and the CT-Software from WENZEL Volumetrik guarantees the highest quality of the new Computer Tomography solution.

System Design

One of the unique features of the Wenzel exaCT® technology is the design and small footprint of the machine. Air bearing and granite technology from our own CMM’s along with in house manufacture of the detector, makes the design both compact and versatile. The control cabinets are located with the machine and the ergonomic workstation design makes it easy for operator use.

The exaCT® is also customisable to customer requirements with larger power sources available as well as our own detectors to suit customers applications.

Various Software Solutions

A further highlight of the system is the performance and operability through the combination of various software-applications. The control software for optimal acquisition of projections pictures and the reconstruction software for the exact evaluation of 3D voxel data are new developments. Data analysis is realized with the proven software Metrosoft QUARTIS from PointMaster.

The data which is acquired through the Computer Tomograph can be metrologically evaluated by the measuring software METROSOFT QUARTIS. The holistic availability of the part surfaces enables the analysis of all contours and areas. This includes especially the inner structures which can be captured in a non-destructive and contact-free way. Moreover the high resolution offers a maximum of security for the evaluation of the measuring results. This procedure provides a considerable time saving potential by the sampling of components.

The Software PointMaster offers excellent options particularly in the field of Reverse Engineering, for the correction of tool shapes and for the site-specific analysis against CAD models. With the help of one of the best tools for surfaces generation, accurate free form surfaces can be generated and processed from CT data. The functions for the iterative compensation of material depletion from tools for injection moulding and casting moulds enables a significant reduction of the development and sampling process and reduce the costs considerably. The proven functionality of PointMaster for the normal-actual value comparison against 3D CAD models with colour illustration can also be used with the Computer Tomograph.

In addition, interfaces to the major capturing software packages such as VGStudio MAX 2.0 are available.

The solution is perfect for the inspection and measurement of small and medium parts, manufactured from plastics, composites, ceramics, aluminium or magnesium.

Non Destruction testing (NDT)

A full range of NDT processes can be performed with the exaCT®

This includes porosity analysis and variations in different density of materials.

These processes can be performed with the optional VG Studio Max software available from Wenzel.
